GSIF HARDWARE

This interface is supported by a large number of professional audio cards and manufacturers.

The following professional multichannel sound cards have implemented the GigaSampler Interface (GSIF) which provides the extremely tight and responsive latency perfomance demanded by professional composers and musicians. The GSIF interface specification is available to all professional sound card manufacturers. If your sound card manufacturer is not on this list, please have them contact us, and we will be happy to provide them with all the necessary information.

If you are a sound card manufacturer and would like to add GSIF support to your drivers, please request an SDK.

These cards generally provide only two output channels, are generally low cost, and vary widely in audio quality and MIDI responsiveness. We have listed only a few cards that are known to have clean output and very responsive MIDI ports. We have also listed a few problematic DirectSound cards.

Generally Laptops are slower performers than an equivalent CPU Desktop because the processors and harddrives are tuned to save energy. The on board sound cards/chipsets are also generally a bit more succeptable to electronic noise. They also are generally more consumer-grade audio solutions as oppose to the professional grade sound cards under the GSIF section.

Most laptops (being consumer grade solutions) will not have GSIF compatible audio solutions. The will work with GigaSampler and GigaStudio in DirectSound mode (see above).
